The reverse depicts Benedetto Pistrucci's classic portrayal of St. First seen on the sovereign of George III in 1817 and now acclaimed as a masterpiece of numismatic art, this legendary design has, with only three exceptions, graced the reverse of all five-pound coins since their introduction in 1820. The obverse is graced by Rapheal Maklouf's portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The Brilliant Uncirculated 5-pound coin is struck to an extremely high standard, each one being subject to meticulous inspection. To identify its quality, a unique "U" appears to the left of the date on the reverse of the coin. Struck in 22 carat gold, the coin weighs 39.94 grams, and measures 36.03 millimeters in diameter and is legal tender with a value of 5 pounds. It comes in a box with a certificate of authenticity.
