Each coin is exactly 1/4 ounce of pure 24 karat gold and weighs 13.3375 grams total. Pure silver makes up the difference in coin weight. These coins were minted by the Royal Canadian Mint for the 1976 Olympics in Montreal (which cost over 500 million in losses to the Canadian economy).
These coins were not struck on center typically and that differs much from the quality of dies that are used today by the RCM. These are bullion gold coins that make great necklace or jewelry coins.
